Aluminum cast of 3d prints

So, we have a large variety of users and everyone uses the Ultimaker and it’s prints in a different way. Let me give a short explanation about one of the possibilities:

Jeshua printed a couple of objects for his laser mount

Then he put them in plaster

And in a self-made furnace:

 

The heat melts the printed objects, which is biodegradable PLA, and then your left with two plasters with the exact negatives of the printed objects inside (the aluminum beer cans are for pouring the molten aluminum)

in goes the aluminum.

He lets the aluminum harden and then knocks the plaster off, and this is the end result:

 

Its amazing to see the detail on this, you can clearly see the 3d lines.
