The cartesian system was inspired by the mtm Multifab by Ilan Moyer and Maxim Lobovsky from the MIT MediaLab. We’ve received many indispensable contributions offered by a large community of contributors. In particular (and in no particular order):
- The whole RepRap and Makerbot community
- Jan-Jaap Schuurman, who has developed the initial set of electronics
- The 12 pioneers in the group at Protospace who built early versions of the Ultimaker design! Jos, Frans, Jan Maarten, Paul, Maarten, Frank, Bart, Martin, Rick, Bart, Karijn en Joost.
- Uncle Andre Stolk, for experimenting, building and tinkering on several Ultimaker parts with me.
- The workshop participants of the second Ultimaker workshop and in particular Hendrik Leusink, Geo Hagen and Wim de Groot for their valuable contributions.
- Rob Gilson, ReplicatorG hacker. We support his awesome RepRap and Ultimaker development!
- Bart Bakker and Julius ter Pelkwijk for helping with the documentation
- Protospace Fablab Utrecht for providing the atmosphere and knowledge to make this possible (especially, Jelle, Joris, Desiree).
- Wim Brinks, for assisting with soldering of a large part of the electronics for the first batch
- Ad van der Laar, for creating a (better) Pololu replacement
- Joris Aerts (CircuitWorks) for upgrading the electronics to a whole new level
- Harma, Marrit, Tamar, Bart and Julius for the great work that they’ve delivered!
- Bernhard Kubicek, Erik vd Zalm and Matthijs Keuper, Peter Brier for amazing electronics and firmware work.
- Alex Oster for NetFabb support
- Dave Durant, Florian Horsch and Paul Candler for helping create good print profiles
- David Braam for writing the 3D printing software Cura.
- Let us know if we’re forgetting anyone!

I think it’s time you added Daid to this list, not only for what he has done for Cura, but also for the great work he does in the forums supporting all the makers.
Your absolutely right, though in a couple of weeks he will be an official Ultimaker colleague but that does not negate this fact. Thanks for the heads up!
