Ultimaker is Open Source Hardware

The Ultimaker is open hardware, which means that the design files are published for you to improve and modify. This has allowed people in the community to create these add-ons for the Ultimaker.

We at Ultimaking Ltd. do not believe in the creation of artificial scarcity but strive to preserve important intellectual freedoms. We believe it would be a shame to develop something good and to keep it to ourselves. Moreover, we want to hear about, and see your improvements without requiring you to ask for permission to innovate!

In addition, we support free software, such as ReplicatorG which is used to control the machine and develop free firmware and new protocols to run on the (open hardware) embedded electronics.

As of today we only ship official Arduino Mega 2560′s, for their quality, but also to support the open hardware ecosystem.

The design files are on Thingiverse, here.
